Not sure what to do for Valentine’s day for your favorite person? Nothing says, “I wanna make out with you so hard right now,” quite like a buckwheat smoothie.
They taste like apple pie, minus the calorie guilt, and can be made well in advance for a quick breakfast on-the-go.
Besides…does anyone actually like those conversation hearts? Yuck.
If you aren’t familiar with buckwheat…I suggest you pull up a chair and listen to the interwebz. Most notably, buckwheat is gluten-free, and can therefore make a perfect substitute for other grains. It is also a wonder-grain for cardiovascular health and packed with manganese and magnesium, which you can read more about here. The taste is quite mild, and therefore easy to incorporate into sweet or savory meals.
So tell your special friends that they have a beautiful *insert favorite body part here* by preparing them this yummy smoothie.
I wanna cuddle your face smoothie
1 cup buckwheat groats, or whole seeds (soaked for one hour)
2 Tbsp of flax seeds (optional…but loaded with omega’s for that precious person!)
2 ripe pears
2 Tbsp honey, agave, or maple syrup
1 tsp cinnamon
Add everything to a blender, and blend. Make an easy parfait by layering the mixture with yogurt, fruit, and nuts. So easy, even hubby could do.
